Please see team 'INJUN TROUBLE' 's blog and also 'MONSOON MANIACS'. We got as far as Puri and decided it would just be too risky to continue driving - my foot/ankle was pretty bad and i had trouble breathing or moving (turns out i had 2 broken toes from the first crash and had torn the cartilage between my breastplate & ribs on the second crash). Nick was exhausted from the endless daily breakdowns. We met a chap called Bubu (better than the average bear) at the wonderful hotel in Puri. He sorted us out with a flight to Bhuneswar and Kolcutta the next day. Kolcutta is horrific - like a Imperial post-apocalypse city falling into ruins. We saw a new BMW 6 series next to man with no arms begging on a sheet. Eagles everywhere - at least 12 outside our hotel window (The Park Hotel - v nice). AND FINALLY - a lot of folk had trouble - putting tuks on lorries/trains etc to finish - get to know a 2 stroke engine intimately- cleaning carbs, air filters, oil changes etc. Cos if you have problems there IS NO-ONE to help (LOTS of advice but no help)!! We were very very lucky as there we were 3 tuks teams...[Read More] |
